Schletter Inc. Supplies Solar Mounting System on 1.5 MW Landfill Installation

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

PRWeb – Press Release

Schletter©, a well-known reliable partner in solar photovoltaic (PV) mounting systems was selected by groSolar®, one of North America’s largest commercial solar engineering and installation firms, as the solar mounting supplier for a 1.5 MW ground mount system atop a landfill in Bridgeport, New Jersey for Clean Harbors Environmental Services.

Schletter’s ballasted ground mount on this site, the PVMax™, is one of the largest landfill installations in North America. The 1.5 MW PV system consisting of more than 6,500 modules, will offset a minimum of 90% of Clean Harbors electrical needs each year.

“groSolar’s extensive experience installing PV systems on landfills led them to choose Schletter’s PVMax ballasted design; what they considered the perfect mounting solution for capped landfills,” says Ed Grover, Strategic Alliance Manager for Schletter Inc. Mr. Grover goes on to say that “the system uses cast-in-place concrete footers without excavation required, which creates a stable foundation for the mounting system and modules. Not only are landfill owners able to utilize properties previously considered unusable, they are using them to create clean energy.”  (Full Article)
