Solaicx is a venture-backed startup hell bent on reducing costs in the PV supply chain. Since breaking ground on their new Portland, OR, factory in November, the company has worked ‘round-the-clock to stabilize their innovative wafer manufacturing technology, with an eye towards full-scale commercial production in the first half of 2009. Solaicx was also one of Greentech Media’s top ten startups.

Cisco leads $27M Aravo funding round

Cisco Systems Inc. joined a $27 million fourth round of funding for Aravo Solutions Inc., the company said Wednesday.

San Jose-based Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) was the largest participant in the round, Aravo said.

San Francisco-based Aravo also said Cisco’s WebEx technologies will be integrated with Aravo’s supplier information management “to facilitate real-time collaboration between buyers and suppliers.”

The latest financing brings Aravo’s total investment to $50 million. The Cisco strategic investment represents Aravo’s first institutional investment, with all prior financing provided by individuals. (Full Article)
